Nawazi Painting is a modern Indian visual art style developed in 2019 by Indian artist Sahanawaz Hussain. Originating in Farakka, in the Murshidabad district of West Bengal, the style is known for its use of geometric abstraction, vibrant acrylic colors, and hidden figurative imagery embedded within structured compositions.

The style integrates themes of beauty, love, and energy, often depicting birds, animals, and natural elements within geometric patterns.

History

Nawazi Painting was introduced in 2019 by Indian artist Sahanawaz Hussain. The term “Nawazi” derives from the artist’s name, reflecting the personal artistic identity associated with the style.

Hussain developed the form by combining geometric shapes such as triangles, squares, rectangles, and cubes with abstract representations of nature. From a distance, the compositions often appear purely geometric, but closer observation reveals figurative elements such as birds, animals, and symbolic natural motifs.

Within a few years of its introduction, Nawazi Painting gained recognition through exhibitions, artistic publications, and workshops in India.
