He is the founder and managing director of Soumik Bandyopadhyay Advisors Pvt. Ltd. (SBAPL), a New Delhi–based boutique advisory firm established in 2020, specialising in governance frameworks, family office structuring, and succession planning for business families and closely held enterprises.

Early life and education

Soumik Bandyopadhyay was born in Kolkata, West Bengal, a city known for its historical contribution to commerce and intellectual development in India. He developed an early interest in finance, organisational systems, and business management.

He completed his undergraduate studies in commerce from the Goenka College of Commerce, graduating in 1990. In 1992, he qualified as a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).

He also holds the qualification of Cost and Management Accountant from the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI), strengthening his expertise in cost management, financial control, and operational efficiency.

Career

Corporate career

Bandyopadhyay began his professional career in the early 1990s during a period of economic liberalisation in India. His initial roles focused on finance, accounting, and internal control systems, eventually expanding into leadership positions involving operational and strategic responsibilities.

He worked with SRF Limited, gaining experience in industrial operations, financial planning, and project management within a diversified conglomerate environment.

He later joined Amway India Enterprises, where he was involved in financial and operational functions within a direct-selling business model, gaining exposure to large-scale distribution networks and regulatory frameworks.

Bandyopadhyay also held roles at Modicare Limited, part of the Modi Group, where he contributed to governance and operational management in a family-led enterprise setting.

At ATS Group, a real estate development company, he served in a senior leadership role overseeing financial planning, governance, and large-scale project execution in the real estate sector.

Family office experience

Between 2013 and 2020, Bandyopadhyay was associated with a Middle East–based family office in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. During this period, he was involved in overseeing global operations, investment structures, and governance frameworks within a multi-generational wealth environment.
