In Calcutta, he met Hazrat Yusuf Shah through Abdul Ghafoor Shah, and took bay'ah (spiritual pledge) at his hands. He later received khilafat (spiritual succession) in the Qadri, Chishti, and Naqshbandi orders, and was instructed to return to Bihar to spread the message of truth and Sufism. He came to be widely known as Sarkar MeemHindi (R.A.).
