Krishnan completed his Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kerala with First Class. He subsequently earned:

Early industrial roles (1988–2001)
Krishnan began his engineering career at Excel Glasses Limited before moving to Mohan Industries Limited as Production Engineer. Between 1991 and 2001, he worked at the National Factory for Glass Bottles, Riyadh, where he:

- Led modernization and IS machine overhauls

General Manager and Operations Leadership (2001–2009)
