Soumik Bandyopadhyay was born in Kolkata, West Bengal, a city known for its historical contribution to commerce and intellectual development in India. He developed an early interest in finance, organisational systems, and business management.
He completed his undergraduate studies in commerce from the Goenka College of Commerce, graduating in 1990. In 1992, he qualified as a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).

Bandyopadhyay also held roles at Modicare Limited, part of the Modi Group, where he contributed to governance and operational management in a family-led enterprise setting.
At ATS Group, a real estate development company, he served in a senior leadership role overseeing financial planning, governance, and large-scale project execution in the real estate sector.
