Early life and background

Sonal Pradhan was born on 23 August in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, to parents Anuradha Pradhan and S. P. Pradhan. She grew up in a middle-class household and completed her baseline primary and secondary education at the Convent of Jesus and Mary (CJM) in Dehradun.

Although she successfully cleared the competitive IIT Bachelor of Architecture (BArch) entrance examinations, she chose to bypass a career in architecture to systematically focus on professional musical training.

Musical career

Pradhan was introduced to music at the age of three and a half by her mother, who oversaw her early vocal practices. By age four, she began formal instruction in Indian classical music under the guidance of Jindey Guruji and Sir Suchit Narang. She performed her first live stage recital at age four and won her first "Best Singer" award in a regional youth competition at the age of five.

In 2018, Pradhan secured a career breakthrough when director Vikram Bhatt selected her to compose and perform original tracks for his digital web series, including Maaya 2 and Zakhmi. Her self-composed ballad "Apne Hi", which she performed as a playback vocalist, emerged as a prominent streaming success on digital media platforms.

Over her professional tenure, she has worked as a composer, lyricist, or co-singer alongside prominent industry figures—including Neha Kakkar, Sunidhi Chauhan, Asees Kaur, Ankit Tiwari, Amit Mishra, Sunny Leone, and Yasser Desai.
