Arun Gupta was born on 5 April 1971 in Babhnauli, Siwan, Bihar, to Late Rajmangal Prasad and Late Gulazari Devi. He belongs to the Teli caste, a Hindu community in Bihar. He married Munni Devi on 15 June 1986, and the couple has three sons—Surya Prakash Gupta, Satya Prakash Gupta, and Shri Prakash Gupta (commonly known as VIP), who are actively involved in the family business.
