Dr. Dasgupta is a former first-class cricketer who represented East Zone in Indian cricket during the 1999-2000 season. He played club cricket in England for Wavetree Cricket Club, Merseyside, Liverpool, UK, and is a Level 1 Coach under the England Cricket Board and an advanced cricket coach under Cricket Australia.
